| Death Note
Manga Total Volumes: 12 Total Pages: ~2500 Author/Illustrator: Tsugumi Ohba, Takeshi Obata North American Publisher: Viz Review and Sample Art: ![]() If you're seeking an addictive supernatural thriller that gives your brain a good workout, then I recommend Death Note. What sets Death Note apart from the rest is that the main character is actually a mass murdering villian; ironically his name means 'Light'. Even so, you can't help but root for Light because he uses his wit and intelligence to overcome any obstacle that challenges his power and ambition.
The art by Takeshi Obata is clean and fully uses the
contrast between
black and white to create drama and imagery. Takeshi Obata
was also
the illustrator for another great work of manga, Hikaru
no Go. If you've read that manga, you'll recognize
the familiar art style. |
